Jay And Silent Bob Get Old Teabagging In Ireland

jsbWell, what can I say? This is certainly not viewing for the faint hearted. Jay and Silent Bob Get Old Teabagging In Ireland is a two disc set featuring two live Dublin shows from their European tour last year. The second disc features extra footage from Las Vegas and San Diego.

Jay And Silent Bob Get Old is a weekly podcast where Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes share stories and anecdotes about their lives. Well, it’s actually mostly Mewes telling stories about wild times he had during his drug fuelled days. The content of these stories is usually crude and always full of profanities but almost always hilarious.

Don’t let the title fool you, it may be called Jay And Bob Get Old, but this is definitely Smith and Mewes being themselves and not their infamous characters. You totally get a feeling of what life is like to be friends with them and each show is completely different. Although they do all end with some sort of audience participation section, whether it be a quick Q and A or a roll playing game they started on the podcasts a while ago called Let Us Fuck.

I feel a bit like I’m short changing you with this review as it’s so short but there really isn’t a lot to say about it. It’s two discs and 240 minutes of two guys chatting and making dick jokes. It’s not nearly as childish as I’m making it out to be there and I did find it to be an enjoyable way to spend my Sunday evening. Although I wasn’t hysterical throughout it is amusing with a fair few laugh out loud moments tucked in there too.

Personally, I’m a huge Kevin Smith fan and out of the variety of podcasts he does Jay and Bob Get Old is the one I find myself sticking with. I listen to it regularly on my commute to work and happily receive funny looks of my fellow tube travellers as I giggle to myself. I enjoy the fact that we get to learn more about Jason Mewes and that it celebrates how long he has been sober without seeming patronising.

This is definitely one for the fans and not the casual Mallrats viewer. I’d also be careful who you share it with, as it’s certainly not one it settle down with your nan in front of. All in all though it’s all you can expect it to be. Crude, rude and pretty damn funny.
