Here’s something interesting from French multi-instumentalist / producer Cocovan

Unwilling to entertain the idea that Cocovan could compete with US and British competition, a whole host of French A&Rs at majors advised she should sing in French. Her response was a simple one – an intensified gritted determination to stick to her guns and further hone her sound, develop, get even better.

She is a great illustration of what artist can do in this digital era, something that was impossible for them to do 10 years ago without huge support – quality production, direction and importantly songwriting can be entirely down to the individual and still have the same appeal, still be achievable, even on a limited budget, even on your own terms.
