Pylo – Enemies

Who ever said rock n’ roll is dead? Pylo are the British guitar band set to bring balance to the airwaves with their brave, bright and beautiful amalgamation of everything that is great about real contemporary music.

Since forming in the spring of 2012, these five young friends from Bath have enjoyed a swift assent to prominence within the music industry, whilst commendably insisting on doing things their way. Intelligent and uncompromising, Pylo are born of a mutual desire to make compelling and original music that has fifty years of great British rock n’ roll in its DNA.

On the debut single ‘Enemies’, an effortlessly haunting delivery from lead singer Matt Aldus builds to a crescendo of epic proportion, complete with a symphony of reverberant electric guitars and potent gang vocals. Despite the sinister title, ‘Enemies’, written about not being ashamed to ask for help when you need it, has a positive morality. Matt affirms “sometimes the best way to get a handle on your problems is to face them with others”.

Despite their seasoned interest in music, these early twenty-somethings are far from just retro-revivalists, as lead-guitarist James Scott states “anyone who is exceptional in their field is an inspiration, whatever genre it is”. As is clear on ‘Enemies’, Pylo possess a far broader pallet of influences; from a legacy of rhythm and blues through to prog, right up to the recent post-rock, post-dubstep and nu-folk booms. Pylo have a battered sea chest full of stadium filling, climactic and clever rock n’ roll fit for the iPod generation and the vinyl junky alike. Next stop….Hyde Park.
