A favorite amongst fans of this rising acoustic star, who includes it in his setlist at almost every gig, this anthemic three-minute wonder was produced at Metropolis studios by David Watson (Eric Clapton, Bert Jansch). Featuring a stirring vocal performance and some stellar guitar playing, it’s a tantalising glimpse of Sallon’s long-awaited debut album, “One For The Road”, set for release on the same day as the single.
The cover shot was taken at Beachy Head near Eastbourne in East Sussex, the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, rising to 530 ft above sea level. The photo shows Sam standing on the very edge of the highest point of the cliffs, one of the world’s most notorious suicide spots. On the day of the shoot, he and photographer JP Defaut were mistakenly approached by a concerned local, anxious to talk the two of them back from the brink. Cheer up guys!
The video for Long Way Down was made by celebrated underground animator Happy Toast (aka Chris Ollis), whose last collaboration with Sam resulted in a surge of over 100,000 youtube hits in less than a week.
Sam’s live shows have seen him sharing billings with a diverse set of international talents including Paul Kelly, Pete Doherty, Lucy Rose, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Flynn, Nick Harper, Dot Allison, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Fionn Regan and Nouvelle Vague and many more. He will be touring the UK throughout May.
Sam will be performing solo, giving audiences a chance to enjoy his unique guitar style and his highly evocative lyrics in an intimate setting with a chance to meet Sam after the show, when he will be signing copies of his album.
