Introducing: SLDGHMR

Currently taking over the Glasswerk HQ stereo and smashing it to tiny bits with some filthy electronica, SLDGHMR are an electro/techno duo from the US – we caught up with them to run our Introducing gauntlet and find more about their new EP Reset released 3rd June on Always Never Records.

When we first met… We met while working a coal mine in South Africa- Antonio turned to me and asked if there is any better way to make a living? I said music, my friend and showed him a crumpled up picture of Busy P and we started our mission. Ever since then we have nightmares of the canary cries in the mine but when we remembered the sound in there we decided to record RESET 100% in the original coal mine, great verb.

We chose our name because… We thought sledgehammer was a powerful name and very cool looking when spelled all broken.

We knew we were on to something when… Our second show was with Steve Aoki. Right after Defenders Of Disco came out we met our now good friend and manager Bobby James who made us feel like we made something worth pushing.

Our biggest influences are… Ed Banger, Bromance crew, Simian Mobile Disco, Radiohead, NIN, etc

We’re most proud of… RESET as a whole, although our remixes did very well. Reset as an album is really good and doesn’t get old- still haven’t gotten tired of it.

Our ideal support slot would be with… Model 500

One item we can’t live without on tour is… I would of said headphones but we have proved that theory wrong. Now I’d say Nicks Breakfast Burrito in cali. I don’t care if we are touring in Paris – still need Nicks.

We can’t stop listening to… Justin Martin, Danny Brown and new Justice live album

We’re not ashamed to admit that… we rewrote the song “Reset” over 10 times over the course of weeks, it took a long time for us to understand how every part worked with the next. It has a weird structure.

Catch us next… doing some dates in the US coming up and just give RESET a listen if you haven’t – thanks everyone! More good stuff to come.
