Bleech will released their new single ‘Not Like You’ on CD and digital on July 1st, the first to be taken from their stunning new album ‘Humble Sky’ coming this September. Their new video for the track has been unveiled this week and explained by singer/guitarist Jennifer O’Neill:
“We asked video artist Sarah Bick to make a piece of art to accompany ‘Not Like You’. The empty school, completely absent of others, prompts feelings of growth, being left behind, and rebelling against natural order and authority. The track is about juggling life and going against the tide, so the child in the video represents an innocence only found when we have no need to look to others for how life should be. The concept is both ugly and beautiful, to match the upbeat song but dark lyrical content.”
The band recorded the new tracks this January at The Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire with producer Ian Davenport (Band of Skulls, Supergrass, Phil Selway) who has preserved their trademark melodies and taken their sound into heavier territory.
“Not Like You” is the first track taken from their second album and could well be the soundtrack to your (most-likely) wet UK summer. It’s a tune devised to quit your job to, and take on the road to nowhere in search of that “little house in the countryside…..with my name on it,” as O’Neill’s lyrics suggest.
The band will play a single release party at the Sebright Arms in London, E2 on Wed June 26th with The Rifles DJing as guests.
Bleech are: Jennifer O’Neill – Guitar/Lead Vocals, Katherine O’Neill – Bass/Vocals and Matt Bick – Drums/Vocals
