‘I Follow Rivers’ is the addictive new single from Belgium’s finest rock export, Triggerfinger. Ruben Block’s vocals are seductive on this track, in harmony with the sultry bass lines of Monsieur Paul. Meanwhile award winning drummer Mario Goossens supplies an imaginative twist, shifting from his usual kit to the humble spoons and a drinking glass.
This track, an acoustic cover of Lykke Li’s international hit, has irresistible character, with a more melodic sound than Triggerfinger’s previous singles while still oozing their signature rock and roll attitude. Originally recorded in a live radio session, it was an instant hit throughout Europe boosting the band’s international profile and causing a media hype within hours of being aired. So far it has amassed over 25 million hits on Youtube and the song stayed at number one for 9 weeks in Belgium, 13 weeks in Holland, as well as reaching number one in Austria and Poland, top 10 in Germany and top 20 in Switzerland.
‘I Follow Rivers’ is taken from their third album ‘All This Dancin’ Around’ which was released in the UK on April 15th this year. The album, recorded at the famous Sound City studio in Los Angeles, has a distinctive and original sound mixing garage and heavy rock with blues, astounding hooks and power riffs which truly capture the riveting power of their live performances. Triggerfinger’s strong bass lines and hard driving drums mix grandiose rock with Ruben Block’s smooth vocals adding moments of brooding introspection.
Having formed in 1998 Triggerfinger, who cite The Cramps, Howlin’ Wolf, The Black Crowes, The Cult and Led Zeppelin as their influences and are dubbed “the loudest band in Antwerp”, have toured relentlessly playing at clubs, pubs and festivals throughout Europe to develop their fierce and uncompromising sound.
One of Europe’s most sought after and fiercely respected live bands, their recent support slots for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Within Temptation and Thin Lizzy have lifted the band to a new level. They were recently added to the line up to help The Rolling Stones celebrate their 50th at Hyde Park on July 6th, a huge honour for the band.
Triggerfinger are playing a special show London’s Borderline on July 5th to celebrate the new single and warm up for Hyde Park.
