Monsters University Review

Mike and Sully are back – but we get to catch up with them at an earlier age as Monsters University if the prequel that tells the story of how the due met, fell out and then eventually formed the friendship fans know and love from the first film.

Yes it’s off to University – Mike the wide-eyed (?) enthusiast who knows how to mathematically put together the right scares for the right phobias, and Sully, the laid back descendant of some of the best who relies more on natural talent. Yup these two have egos that are about to clash.

The film starts of ho-hum enough with the arrival on campus and the plot and characters are set up.

Part of what is missing is some of the background information.  While this campus looks more loaded than anything you have seen before, there is actually far too many well behaved background characters not doing a heck of a lot compared to previous Pixar films where there is often plenty of information and gags in the background to pick up on.

The film also has a bit of an elongated ending that may threaten to scare off the patience of younger viewers, or just impatient adults.

But all in all, it’s hard to sniffle at much Pixar invent, and this film, likely to be a huge success, still delivers on the fun.
