A Quick Chat With Morning Smoke

A Quick Chat With Morning Smoke

They look great, they have a killer pop song called ‘Blue Ribbons’, they’re aged 18-19 and they can play courtesy of their BIMM (Brighton Institute Of Modern Music) education, so we caught up with Max Wright and Milo McNulty, originally from Bath, to find out more about newcomers Morning Smoke.

When we first started playing music…
Me ( Milo ) and Max started playing together at college a few years ago, however it was nothing serious. Me and Max started living together when we moved to Brighton for uni and that’s where we started Morning Smoke . We met Chris ( Bass) and Isaac ( drums ) a couple months later and it became serious around march this year!

We chose our name because…
We brainstormed names and stumbled upon Morning Smoke and liked the imagery of Water Vapour or deep fog rising in the morning.

We knew we were on to something when…
We weren’t aware that we were yet but thank you !

Our biggest influences are…
Myself and Max both like similar bands such as Beach Fossils , My Bloody Valentine as well as songwriters like Conor Oberst . However what’s great is that Isaac’s music is slightly different, his favourite band is tame impala and chris for example is big on Reggae!

We’re most proud of …

The fact that we’re not just a group of individuals who play music together, we are actually really good mates.

Our ideal support slot would be with…
Mac Demarco because we all love his music and he’s hilarious on stage so it would be such a fun show to play.

One item we can’t live without on tour is…
We haven’t actually been on tour yet haha

We can’t stop listening to…
Melody’s Echo Chamber , Mac Demarco , My Bloody Valentine , DIIV – there’s too much to narrow down!

We’re not ashamed to admit that…
We have a long way to go in terms of where we want to be as band.

Catch us next…
Our EP launch show in October , follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more details soon.
