Stolen Review

Nic Cage adds yet another thriller to the blender that is the Nic Cage back catalogue with this uninspired thriller about an ex-con who has to find his kidnapped daughter whilst evading some very untrusting policemen.

Will Montgomery (Cage) is a criminal with a soft heart. A botched robbery find his colleagues escaped and him doing 8 years for crime, despite then law not turning up any of the money they stole. Upon his release the police want to know where he is hiding it, as does begrudged former friend/partner Vincent (Josh Lucas) who has hatched the plan to kidnap Will’s teenage daughter.

Will then finds himself with very few allies as he has to run around trying to solve his problems while on a clock.

What transpires is a string of unimpressive (even by director Simon West’s standards – it seems he’s not the only one paying off a mortgage for this one) action beats with uninspired stunts, and uninspired chases. In one instance we even get Will racing a car through traffic without even being chased by anyone for the sake of giving the audience that 5 minute gap action beat.

Looking at the likes of Malin Ackerman, M C Gainey, Danny Huston and Josh Lucas you can’t help but think it’s a waste of an otherwise talented supporting cast.

As repetitive as we are sounding, it is all just truly uninspired.
