It’s been an exciting 18 months for the Leeds based duo Rodina including two American tours and a performance for H.R.H. The Queen! But mainly they have been knuckling down to finish new studio album “Home”
From the frenetic kung-fu latin of track “Mr Lee” to the New Orleans lilt of “What is it about today?” through to some lush strings arrangements on chill out tracks like “I Got Lost” this is sophisticated ambient pop with scope and detail. Their distinctive sound is tinged with jazz and world music and sparkling with originality.
Beautiful vocals are provided by song-writer Aoife Hearty and accompanied by piano-man and producer Joe Tatton. Special guests include Stuart Mccallum (Cinematic Orchestra) on the chilled out “There You’ll Be”, Pete Shand (of New Mastersounds) on the reggae track “Living the High” and the album also features funk Stalwarts The Haggis Horns.
“Home” will be available in the UK from 15th October, on CD and digitally from Bandcamp and other online retailers and iTunes November 15th.
Upcoming live UK shows:
Matt and Phreds, Manchester 18th October
