Bring Me The Head Of The Machine Gun Woman Review

Premiering over here at FrightFest’s Glasgow venue in 2013, the film got such a good response that it garnered a repeat viewing at the London event 6 months later, BMTHOTMGW (Too right we can’t be bothered to type the whole thing out) is short, grungy, sick and wicked. Depending on your taste in film that could be either for the better or the worse.

Taking a cue perhaps from the Rodriguez “Machete” school of film-making – we get this wacky ultra-violent tale of a young man caught up in gang warfare. Of course his path soon crosses with the titular character – all suspenders and heavy artillery; naturally she kills while in some over the top pose to make her all the more alluring.

The film also draws heavily on the game Grand Theft Auto is the way that our hero has to set about completing missions (to which we even get the results plastered across the screen for comic effect.

What it lacks is any depth – but then did anyone really expect any?  A few more laughs and a bit more camera consistency would perhaps make this all the more enjoyable and less disposable, but as disposable films go, it is at least fun.
