Giant Fang - Golden Age
Single Review

Giant Fang – Golden Age

Golden Age is the second single form Glasgow’s Giant Fang, otherwise known as electronic musician and producer Douglas Wilson. A former tour manager, Wilson began writing music while on the road, and now has put his own three piece band together. The track is already playing on XFM and Radio 1, and Giant Fang also made a good impression live on stage at the Wickerman festival this summer.

Golden Age is a grand, sweeping electronic pop song with great scope and a synth melody that builds and falls nicely. The sound is uplifting, and the vocals are strong and confident amongst the electronica. A slow drum beat keeps time as the synths lead in a song that harks back to the past, but only as the dawn of a new future. This is a modern sound, an uplifting summer song to brighten the winter days.

Glasgow’s always vibrant music scene has given birth to several good electronic acts recently, with the likes of Chvrches making waves. Giant Fang have made great strides in a short period of time and I’ll be interested to see how Wilson develops what is a very promising musical vehicle.
