Alt-rock band Carousels & Limousines are looking to make some serious moves on 2014 with this incredibly haunting song and video for ‘Greasy Hands’. It has the opus ambitions of a band twice their age or more akin to the heady days of 70s giants Led Zeppelin and Queen where the pressure to only make three minute pop songs was not something they adhered to.
The track is a slow building epic seemingly about a bar brawl over a woman that grows from solemn acoustic and accordion with gravelly vocal tones to big guitars and triumphant drums. Embroiled in the heroism of defending a woman, frontman Sam Gotley spits the lyrics “Get your greasy hands… off my woman… she’s a lady”.
The video directed by Panamanian David Santana Lorenzo, takes the track in a different direction but works to poignantly raise awareness of the devastating sadness of child labour. Entertainment site Contact Music said, “It’s definitely a tear-jerker, with the spine-chilling lyrics and mournful tone providing a great finish to an important story that needs to be told.”
Carousels & Limousines have been playing together relentlessly in support of last year’s acclaimed debut album ‘Home To Andy’s’ and are one of those very special bands well worth seeing live. They were awarded London’s 100 Club’s prestigious ‘Artist Of The Month’ title and regularly sell out their hometown Bath ’s Moles Club.
With a trip to record and play in LA booked due to demand for their infatuating English style of blues Americana and a new six track EP set for release this summer, the buzz for Carousels & Limousines is starting to swell. See them at one of the following intimate venues while you still can.
