Introducing: Indiana

What is it about the Scandinavian-sounding future pop being peddled by Indiana that makes her so alluring?

Possibly the best answer to that question is to take just one listen to the darkly stuttering sci-fi prowl of ‘Solo Dancing’, premiered last night by Zane Lowe as his Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1.

The single is released March 23rd via Sony, and if it’s anything to go by is getting us pretty excited about her debut release. It’s a great introduction to the Nottingham singer-songwriters’ sound, that sees a creeping disco beat layered with Italo synths and a hypnotic vocal, simultaneously riding the super-cool lo-fi wave whilst retaining a pop-edged sheen. You can’t help but feel like she would have slotted perfectly into the Drive soundtrack had she been slightly quicker off the blocks.

Indiana plays a headline show on Thursday, Feb 6th at new London venue Oslo, before embarking on an eight-date UK tour in March-April as the main support to Bipolar Sunshine.
