Songeist is a new online music platform that provides emerging and independent artists with the opportunity and the tools to promote and distribute their music.
Launched at the end of 2013, Songeist allows fans to discover, share and download the best up-and-coming artists before they’ve been heard of anywhere else, whilst only taking a flat fee of 12p per download.
Songeist gives emerging bands the option to set a price for their tracks, or give them away for free, allowing them 100% flexibility in how they distribute their music. In their efforts to support the emerging music community and give an added incentive to passionate music consumers, they also have their own Reward Scheme. This is where anyone (artist or fan) who recommends someone to Songeist will receive 5% credit on all purchases that they make across the site.
As part of the site’s core ethos to support their artists, they help create additional content such as sessions and offer live showcase slots. The first took place before Christmas and the second will be on Wednesday 12th March at Bethnal Green’s Sebright Arms. Taking to the stage will be Kanzi, Damn Beats and Arrows Down – three of the artists Songeist has championed on the site.
Brighton outfit Kanzi have been gaining attention from outlets like NME, Crack in the Road and Amazing Radio with a sound Influenced by ambient and electronic acts like Thom Yorke, Mount Kimbie and Burial. With a debut EP on the way, the old school friends are ones to watch. Arrows Down, the alias of London-based multi-instrumentalist, Tom Cameron will also be performing. He has only played a handful of acoustic shows in the UK but has already received support from 6 Music and SBTV. Also appearing at the event is the Portsmouth based trio Damn Beats, whose indie riffs and blues licks have quickly started to build them a live following.
