FRANCOBOLLO continue their series of infectious single releases with new track “Steven Hawkins” out on March 31st on the newly launched band’s own label Moonshiner Records. The track was recorded by producer Cam Blackwood (We Are Scientists, CSS, London Grammar, George Ezra), who personally invited them to record at Voltaire Studios in South London.
Francobollo, made up of Simon Nilsson, Sean Bean and Petter Grevelius, hit the shores of the UK from Sweden in 2009. Picking up Londoner Sam Bailey and more recently fellow Swede Wiya Ngeh on their journey, they’ve honed their raucous own brand of wonky grungy pop, slowly picking up a growing legion of dedicated pit-filling Francophiles along the way. Combining dashes of Beck, Pavement and Nirvana, they create a unique cacophony of melody infused guitar-pop with twinges of electronics picking up the energy.
The band have been played on the radio by the likes of John Kennedy, Gary Crowley, Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson, and their hilariously deranged self-made videos (I Found a Bike Today, Basketball, We’re Going to… Rio) have been gaining them fans everywhere.
Francobolloare planning another single this summer, before a big release before the end of the year. In the meantime, they have announce an UK tour, which includes a Single Launch show in London at Sebright Arms on March 28th
