Various – Punk Goes 90s Vol. 2

I have a lot of these Punk Goes… albums in my personal collection so Punk Goes 90s Vol. 2 was never going to be lonely. Like most of the other Punk goes… compilations this one is a lot of fun. Even if it does manage to make me feel ancient! “I remember these the first time round,” probably when a lot of the fans of these bands weren’t even born yet! Oh my word. Kill me now.

My vintage aside this album is pretty mega. I can’t decide if Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!’s version of All Star (originally by Smash Mouth) is my favourite or if Falling In Reverse’s Coolio cover of Gangsta’s Paradise just pips it to first place in my affections. Either way, they’re both awesome. I also like Ice Nine Kills’ version of Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life), I think it’s a really nice way to round off the compilation. Although, after bobbing along quite happily, Motionless In White’s Rammstein cover was a jarring half time interlude.

Really, what’s left to say? Punk Goes 90s Vol. 2 does exactly what you expect it to and it does it well. It is the latest of a long line of Punk Goes… albums that have all been brilliant. They always go down well as the soundtrack to a house party and this newest one is no different.

Big thumbs up from me. (Showing my age again there aren’t I? Damnit.)
