Blues Legend Ian Siegal To Play Intimate Liverpool Gig

Ian Siegal has jammed with Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, sung with the prestigious ONJ orchestra in Paris, played in 25 countries and his next CD is a BBC recording made at the Royal Albert Hall, so why is this multi-award winning blues man playing the tiny confines of Parr Street’s Studio 2 venue next week in Liverpool?

Partly it’s because he prefers smaller, more intimate venues; and partly because his chosen music, – blues with a contemporary twist – is mostly ignored by the media in the UK. A few short weeks after playing in Liverpool he will be appearing on one of the biggest TV shows in Holland.

Though he is best known as a blues man and variously described as a legend and a national treasure, a typical Siegal solo show is much more than blues, taking in the American folklore of songwriters such Guy Clarke and Townes Van Zandt, and his own genre-defying songs. What binds together this varied repertoire is Siegal’s fabulous voice and command of the guitar.
