Introducing Frontere

Frontere is made of Curio & Sid. Presenting a decent serving of hiphop, electronica and acoustic sounds they love to keep it simple and loud. Place Called Home is a result of Frontere’s recent collaboration with singer Mackson, a Coventry native, whose raw talent for performance and vocal prowess has added that extra bit of shine to the latest Frontere track. The single speaks about the notion of searching for that missing link, whatever it may be, with regret, indecision and right and wrong turnings along the way.

Curio is usually to be found in various venues around Birmingham, where he and his two brothers grew up (one of them is actually playing for the Birmingham Basketball team BBL and recently made his debut for England). Having cut his teeth on old hiphop school beats and remixes he is a barebones musician and creative talent, bringing raw attitude and much of the visual designs to the mix.

Sid was born and raised in Germany. Started playing violin at age six and after adding piano and guitar to the mix then started writing and producing before deciding to go to Britain to find some more interesting mistakes to make. Studying production in the environment of the Birmingham Conservatoire Sid gathered welcome and unexpected influences from the broad range of styles. Always coming back to a solid beat and a good vocal (and the appreciation of a good party brought on by the right tunes) it was inevitable to go down the route that would become the Frontere sound.

You will hear both Frontere members refer to ‘ New Market Street ‘ as the birth of Frontere they once said they would love to steal the sign to put in their studio. As their signature sound we hear today was founded there between nights in behind the keyboard and sampler and nights out with a break to head back to the pad to put another idea down for the next session.

Curio made early ties to the London scene via his close friend Felix Billion. He has also has a fair share of involvement on the digital side of things with the new lifestyle company SICK LIFE, heavily supported by Professor Green. Curio also is working alongside F2D Clothing (currently working with Dappy, Soulja Boy and many other international artists) as a model and digital media professional.

This is 2014 and Frontere is moving in taking the already formed ideas to the next level, reaching out to other performers, collaborating and always pushing for that raw sound. There is a lot in the pipeline for this year: Tunes to get out to the public, parties to have and attend, performances lay down and deals to make safe to say Frontere will be claiming new ground moving forward.
