Slam Dunk Festival, has added 2 more bands to the 9th annual three day festival, covering Leeds, Hatfield and Wolverhampton. The seven stage event uses a combination of indoor and outdoor stages across urban sites to create a totally unique festival experience.
Saturday 24th May: Slam Dunk Festival North. Leeds University.
Sunday 25th May: Slam Dunk Festival South. The Forum, Hertfordshire.
Monday 26th May: Slam Dunk Festival Midlands. Wolverhampton Civic
.
Joining exclusive headliners All American Rejects will be rising stars from Brighton, Verses, who will be releasing their much anticipated debut album ‘Feel It Faster’ on May 26th and are currently touring the UK with LostAlone. Also announced are hard working Birmingham pop punk band Light You Up who say, “We’ve been coming to Slam Dunk for years and we’re delighted to be invited to play this year! Every year has a great party atmosphere and I’m sure this year will be no different! Bring it on!”
‘The Uprawr DJ stage’ is now also confirmed, with the national club brand bringing their legendary parties into the mix. Slam Dunk is pleased to announce this will include a massive headline slot from one of the biggest party DJs in the UK, DJ Yoda.
Duncan Beiny aka DJ Yoda is no ordinary scratch DJ. His seminal How To Cut & Paste series showcased a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”, whilst Hip Hop Connection voted him “one of the top three DJs in the world”.
From his hip-hop beginnings, DJ Yoda has evolved in the past ten years, using his turntable skills and influences as diverse as funk, b-more, kuduro, reggae, drum ‘n’ bass and even big band swing and country & western, to make unashamed party music. No stranger to cutting the Indiana Jones theme with woofer-worrying dubstep or the Muppet Theme with 1930’s swing, his shows are peppered with film, TV and YouTube samples and visuals that lift his sets to new and stratospheric heights. His new album ‘Chop Suey’, is well worth a listen for fans of any type of music!
Tek One, a Slam Dunk festival regular will also return for an exclusive DJ set, filled with his usual mix of rock inspired dub step to promote his new album, Sleep Equals Myth.
The stage will be finished off by Slam Dunk & Uprawr residents and special guests.
