The Best Of The Worst: Eurovision Song Contest 2014

Yup it’s that time again, the Eurovision Song Contest is back for 2014 and it all kicks off next week with a selection of some of the strangest and worst songs from across our completely barmy collection of nations. We bloody love Eurovision here at Glasswerk.

There’s a good selection of entries this year and Azerbaijan’s Dilara Kazimova is flying the flag for credibility with sombre, jazzy piano track ‘Start A Fire’ probably sitting in the least likely to win column due to her obvious talent – something which is usually a prerequisite for failure in this farcical competition. Close behind, France have gone with ‘Moustache’ – a catchy slice of French hip-pop from Twin Twin.

Top picks for worst track include the Justin Timberlake-imitating weird-hop of Belarus, the not-so-ironically titled ‘Cliche Love Song’ from Denmark and our very own Molly Smitten-Downes with the saccharine sob story of ‘Children of the Universe’.

Check out this handy sampler to hear some clips of all the tracks in the running this year:
