Fresh Chops: Nao
Fresh Chops today courtesy of Nao – a 24 year old singer, songwriter and producer from East London.
Now taking her first steps as a solo artist after an already promising musical career that has included jobs singing with Jarvis Cocker, Pulp and Kwabs, she’s finally settled on a sound she was happy with after jamming with producer John Calvert in late night sessions at her Hackney home.
You can hear the first of these tracks – ‘Back Porch’ – below, which blends shades of SBTRKT, Burial and Bjork, marking Nao out as an intriguing prospect going forwards. The track is taken from a forthcoming EP which will also include a very special duet with Jai Paul’s brother and chief collaborator A.K.Paul.
No, we’ve got no idea who A.K.Paul is either, but this track is bloody gorgeous.
Nao will play her first solo show with Billie Black at Electrowerkz on Jul 15th.
