Watch KNife Video For DieNasty

Keepin’ it strickly hiphop this morning we’re all over this new single from KNife – you can watch the video for DieNasty below.

The Savannah, GA-based rapper and Dope Sandwich label head has just released the self-directed music video taken from his forthcoming album Iconoclast.

The son of a US diplomat, he was raised in Canada, Singapore, Cameroon and his mother’s home country of Liberia, where he bore witness to Liberia’s gruesome civil war. There’s definitely a visceral, aggressive quality to KNife’s flow on this track that feels influenced by conflict, but it’s more of a rage against the system and bureaucratic injustice than a malicious smack-rap and is packed full full of cutting, intelligent and wry statements.

‘DieNasty’ was the last song written and recorded for the album,” says KNife. “It was actually an addition meant to lighten the album up a little, but it backfired and ended up being the hardest track on the damn thing. I also wanted another straightforward, traditional rap song added into the mix of the more experimental stuff I was doing.
