Introducing: Maxine Ashley

Bronx-born Maxine Ashley is the latest protege of current golden god Pharrell Williams, aka the Midas of pop music in 2013.

What can we expect? Smooth jazz and ambient lounge beats with pop and electro hooks prevail on ‘Mood Swings’, Maxine’s debut EP which you can hear below. Discovered, as is more and more often the case, on her youtube channel which was racking up gargantuan hits, the ‘Get Lucky’ star was so impressed that he signed her to his i am OTHER imprint.

Citing her musical influences as The Smiths, Beyonce and everything in between, Maxine is certainly one of the more interesting new pop artists we’ll be keeping an eye on this year.
