Fresh Chops: WENNINK
Releasing his debut EP on 11th August, you could be forgiven for thinking newcomer WENNINK had been crafting his subtle, epic-pop gems for a thousand years.
You can stream the first track to be revealed, ‘Mirrors’, further down the page and experience his sumptuous brand of euphoric-melancholia for yourself; a fragile masterpiece that breaks down around singer/songwriter Oliver Wennink’s emotional vocal.
Citing both James Blake and Atoms For Peace as influences, the blend of the intimate and the epic here is near perfect as glitchy production battles with lush, warm piano against the cutting wail of Wennink’s Jeff Buckley flavoured howls.
