If you like post-hardcore and you’re searching for a new obsession, you could do a lot worse than EXES. You might recognise a couple of members from the excellent Tropics, but this is a different beast altogether.
Their debut LP offering “phantasmaboring” is released tomorrow; a searing collection of tracks that reference Million Dead, Meet Me In St Louis, early Gallows and ‘Shut Your Mouth’ era AFI. The result is a hard-hitting blend of punishing discords complimented with hints of melody. The frequencies on this one are ear-splitting even at mid range volume, you have been warned – play it loud at your own peril.
The band play Camden’s Black Heart on July 23rd in celebration of this long awaited debut and support Pissed Jeans in Brighton this August.
