Introducing: Hong Kong

Need a nice chilled out semi-misery anthem for your long sweaty summer? Look no further than Late Bloomer from Hong Kong.

Gotye meets Eliot Smith by way of Pavement on this sombre but melodic offering, with the hesitant optimism of Daniel Johnston creeping in around the edges.

His debut album ‘High Noon’ is the result; Hong Kong’s (aka Chuck Gonzales) melancholic, introspective songs are each as beautiful as the next, delicate and frail, full of human emotion.

The Philippines-based musician explains “From the guitar and vocals to the bass and everything else, I make a conscious effort to capture everything I feel at the time in the recording, so that everything is real and honest. That really matters to me.”
