With the demise of SHARKS and PURE LOVE there’s a gap in the market for a swaggering retro-sounding punk band and Blacklist Royals might just fill those shoes.
The Nashville residentswill be playing Reading & Leeds Festival this summer and have released the title track from their forthcoming album ‘Die Young With Me’ for free download to celebrate.
Brothers Rob and Nat Rufus are the focal point of the band, with the new single based on Rob’s diagnosis with a rare form of cancer. He spent nearly three years in the hospital, rotated in and out of surgeries and treatments. One of his lungs was removed and numerous side effects lingered.
“This was the one that started the entire writing process for this record, and it was the first song Rob ever wrote about being sick” says front man Nat Rufus “It’s a play on the “live fast, die young” sentiment, and how quickly everyone fades away when you’re faced with that as a reality, the loneliness of knowing you’re an unwelcome reminder to other people about their own mortality.”
