Leeds Festival kicks off in style with the now legendary Dance To The Radio label hosting their stage early on Thursday 21st August. From 7pm the following bands will be kick starting the weekend’s festivities:
Brighton’s TOY head up proceedings, bringing their much lauded psych, shoe gazing sonics to the fields of Leeds. The last long player made huge inroads for this band who are on the cusp of greatness.
From the same scene as Peace and Swim Deep, Birmingham’s SUPERFOOD’s have a penchant for huge 90’s infused choruses – just is perfect for this opening party.
The latest single ’Super Rat’ by Glasgow’s snarling HONEYBLOOD subtly spits “I will hate you forever! Scumbag sleaze! Slimeball grease! You really do disgust me!” Let’s hope they don’t cheer up before they get on site!
24 year old Benjamin Garrett is best known as critically acclaimed and much loved FRYARS. His last album ‘Power’ is in his own words, “the soundtrack to a film that doesn’t exist”. He has recently written two tracks on Lily Allen’s album ‘Sheezus’, and will be a big draw with this festival opening set.
With debut LP ‘Pink Fur’ released earlier this year, Leeds’ own art rock/post punk foursome POST WAR GLAMOUR GIRLS are fast making a name for themselves as one of the loudest and most abrasive bands in the UK. They are not to be missed.
These new acts join Main Stage headliners Arctic Monkeys, Paramore, Blink 182, Queens Of The Stone Age plus You Me At Six, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Vampire Weekend, Jake Bugg and many, many more.
All Reading tickets are sold out. Leeds tickets are still available from selected ticket websites.
