Gerard Way Goes Retro In No Shows Video

My Chemical Romance’s former front man Gerard Way has made his solo return today with the video for ‘No Show’ which takes a retro VHS look at the MTV vibe of the 80’s.

More influenced by the likes of Devo and Pixies than the goth-rock of his day job, the new single also shares some common ground with Julian Casablancas and has a cooler swagger than MCR ever really managed to attain.

Meanwhile, anticipation for Way’s debut album ‘HESITANT ALIEN’ continues to gather pace and fans will get their first listen to some of the songs when he performs his first solo shows at this weekend’s Reading and Leeds Festivals. Plans for further touring are also in the works, with details set to be announced shortly.

I looked to the Britpop poets like Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn, drawing upon everyday life” explains Way of his new material “I also experimented with the abstract, and looked at Frank Black’s work both with the Pixies, and as a solo artist. There was no concept and no call-to-arms.
