A Quick Chat With Springtime Carnivore

Ahead of the release of US lo-fi pop newcomer Springtime Carnivore‘s debut album, we caught up with her alter ego Greta Morgan to talk about her new single ‘Sun Went Black’ released on 6th October, dreaming of Joanna Newsome and Western soundtracks…

When I first started playing music…
As a toddler.

If I had to choose a new name for the band it would be…
This is actually the first time I’ve liked a band name.

I knew I was onto something when…
I listened back to some of the songs and felt happy like champagne bursting out of the bottle.

My biggest non-musical influences are…
The authors Raymond Carver, Jim Harrison, John Fante, the movie “Badlands”, spending time in the mountains.

My ideal support slot would be…
I was thrilled to just have a DREAM support slot, which was opening for The Zombies. Future dreams are to open for any of my other favorite modern artists. I love Joanna Newsom, Kurt Vile, Wilco, Spoon, Dr Dog, Neko Case, Father John Misty, Deerhunter, Angel Olsen, and so so many more. It’s such a thrill that there is so much incredible music being made out there.

Something I haven’t achieved yet which I’d like to is…
Play the piano like Leon Russell.

My favourite place to hang out is…
In the mountains. Really, any mountains will do.

I can’t stop listening to…
The “Cool Hand Luke” soundtrack

If I could wave a magic wand and make anything in the world happen it would be…
Human kindness.

Catch us next…
Supporting Of Montreal in Los Angeles October 16th and on tour with Generationals in October and November.
