Wolfcop Review

wcWolfcop is exactly what it says on the tin. If the title sounds like 80’s B-Movie cheese with 80’s special effects and a turn your brain off and enjoy thrill ride. Then you would be correct! It’s a cop…. Who’s a Werewolf! What else would you expect? Or want.

Local alcoholic cop, Lou Garou (Leo Fafard) isn’t exactly the most dedicated or greatest law enforcement officer in his jurisdiction. But one night after spending the best part of the day in the local bar, Lou is called to check out some strange goings on in the local woods. This night would change him forever!

With what starts out to be heightened senses and a familiarity with crime scenes he attends, soon transforms into something that will change the policing of this small town for good! Wolfcop is on a quest to clean up his town!

The story is simple and what one would expect from a film that prides itself on its throw back 80’s B Movie feel. It works well and is possibly one of the better films of its kind for recent times. In fact it’s been accepted so well that the 2nd instalment has already been announced, with filming due to start in autumn and a early 2015 release date promised!

The effects are well thought about and executed well on the screen. Some werewolf transformation scenes in other films try and live up to the American Werewolf in London and just don’t cut it. Wolfcop manages this well and also goes beyond any other werewolf transformation sequence…… ever!

The humour in the film also fits well with plenty of laughs to be had during its short 79 min run time.

There’s also plenty in the way of extras on offer with an informative behind the scenes featurette, Music video, gag reel, promo clips, trailers and more!

If you like your horror from the 80’s and feels that something is missing from the modern horror scene, then this is probably for you! If you want something to stick on at Halloween with a group of friends and some beers, then this is definitely for you!
