Following the release of their debut album in January, Big Ups return with a new two-track 7” on October 27th.
In July 2014, Big Ups took an extended nap and somehow woke up in THUMP Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. They decided to try to record a few new songs, and – despite the band’s grogginess- they actually finished the recordings. These new songs will be released on 7″ vinyl – Rash b/w Not Today will be released via Tough Love Records in Europe on October 27th, 2014.
With the announcement, the band are streaming the release’s blistering A-side, Rash.
Of the track, vocalist Joe Galarraga states, “‘Rash’ is a song about feeling exposed. We live in a city so densely populated, that it feels impossible to escape and actually be alone. We’re always surrounded by people on the street and the transit system. Even in our apartments, we are separated from our neighbors by a few feet of drywall. On bad days, this can all be too overwhelming. Specifically, the song uses the idea of rash to manifest this idea; everyone can see one’s irregularities in the open without pretense.”
Both tracks from the upcoming 7” will also be released as bonus tracks on a deluxe edition of the band’s critically-lauded debut record ‘Eighteen Hours of Static’. This extended edition will be released on 27th October is available to pre-order from iTunes now.
