As the Halloween season draws even closer, the horror films just keep on coming! 2014 has been a good year for the genre and Bad Milo is no exception.
Duncan is stressed. His job is stressful, the pressure from his mother for grandchildren is stressful, and life is stressful. Because of this building pressure, poor Duncan experiences some pretty painful stomach cramps. But when these cramps turn out to be a demon that dwells in his stomach, stress is about to get what’s coming! When this demon leaves Duncan’s body (I’ll leave it to your imagination as to the exit) then the things that stress Duncan out are the focus of the vengeful Demons terror. This is all well and good, until the demon turns its attention to Duncan’s wife!
Now if that general description of the story appeals to you, then you will not be disappointed.
It’s at times a hilarious and fun film that will really appeal to the B movie crowd. It’s a farfetched, well written, original tale with some pretty good special effects. The demon Milo, although portrayed as a killer, can even come across as cute when bonding with his owner Duncan, in like a gizmo meets ET kind of way.
It’s great to see another horror film go back to basics with latex props and a puppeteer monster. It’s a trend that we are starting to see more of in the genre and we should be actively supporting these types of changes away from the CGI filled garbage that we have been inundated with for too many years.
The DVD release isn’t loaded with extras as you can expect from a film that only had a limited small cinema run and festival viewings, but we get a few deleted scenes and some outtakes for your viewing pleasure.
So if you like your horror films from the 80’s, toilet humour, bad one liners and Demons that dwell in backside. Then I can guarantee, Bad Milo will tick every single box!
