Alt rock four piece United Fruit have been around the Glasgow scene for a few years now. A solid live band, they have never quite yet managed to transfer the dynamism of their stage show into the recording studio. The band have played T In The Park and supported the likes of The Twilight Sad and Twin Atlantic to very good reviews, and are perhaps now on the verge of something big.
Is new single Open Your Eyes the song that will see them make the breakthrough? Well, its bursts of treble heavy guitar, frenetic vocals and powerful rhythm certainly make this a very good rock song. And the closing instrumental section has a great melody that is going to sound tremendous live. Overall this is a track with a triumphant sound, one that grabs your attention in a big way and doesn’t let go.
United Fruit have been touring the UK over the past few weeks and there is a new album to come soon. If this lead single is anything to go by then it will be one to savour.
Venue: Open Your Eyes
