The Pains of Being Pure At Heart Release Kelly Video

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have just released the video for their latest single ‘Kelly’ today, shot by the band’s friend and longtime collaborator, Art Boonparn.

It’s a bouncy number that borrows heavily (especially that wandering bassline) from The Smiths’ track ‘This Charming Man’, replacing Moz’s misery with sunshine pop melodies more likely to be found on a Katrina & The Waves record.

The band also recently released a deluxe edition of their 2014 LP Days of Abandon, with 5 bonus tracks.

“This album was a chance to push beyond Belong’s universal style of songwriting into something that was far more personal and true to my ideals,” says Kip Berman of the band. “I wanted the music to be joyful, lush and full of possibility, even if the subjects were often more painful to confront.”
