Tom Odell Soundtracks Tearjerking John Lewis Xmas Ad

MIddle class Britain’s favourite department store, John Lewis, have revealed their 2014 Christmas ad for this year and it’s fallen on the lucky head of singer songwriter Tom Odell to provide the soundtrack.

His cover of John Lennon’s Real Love lends itself to the tale of Monty the penguin, a lonely little fella just looking for a hug. Previous editions have been soundtracked by Lily Allen, Gabrielle Aplin, Slow Moving Millie and Ellie Goulding.

It’s only an advert campaign, but as the Coca Cola truck shows, these kind of things can worm their way into seasonal tradition.
