The Ordinary Boys Return With Awkward Video

Alright we’d be lying if we said we’d missed The Ordinary Boys, but to give them their credit they’ve got some great songs and we do like Preston (mostly because his cat is called Battle Cat and that’s just great).

Anyway, after a fair old break in which he’s penned a number one single for Olly Murs (I know right? We had no idea either), he’s only gone and got the bloody band back together for new single ‘Awkward’ and you can check out the video below.

It’s actually a pretty catchy little indie punk number – Elvis Costello meets Graham Coxon by way of Woody Allen’s wardrobe.

“Admittedly, The Ordinary Boys had wandered pretty far from the sound, energy and ethos that had garnered respect for of our debut album Over The Counter Culture and earned us our still-loyal fanbase” explains Preston “So… I made Spinal Tap-esque phone calls to bassist James Gregory and drummer Charlie Stanley who I hadn’t played with since that record. After promising several times that it wouldn’t sound anything like the questionable third album, we met for some beers and started rehearsing. We were 15 again. Awkward, on which Louis and I share vocal duties, is a taster of things to come. It’s a glorious hymn to saying the right thing in the wrong way, a bittersweet pop punk paean to messing things up. We think it’s pretty special…”
