Dutch alternative rock quintet De Staat return with their ‘Vinticious Versions’ EP out on 24 November on Vinyl/CD/Digital via Cool Green Recordings/Mascot Label Group.
Today we’re very proud to be premiering ‘Get It Together’, the latest track taken from the record. Shades of The Hives mix with a hint of Abba’s ode to Rasputin, artfully shot through with psych-tinged gnaoua desert blues riffs and Tarantino-esque “whoahs” – this is a freaky journey through a strange musical land, and we love it.
Front man Torre Florim describes it as “very much guitar driven but weirder” with the new EP serving up something a little more “dark and delicious” than their previous material, according to Florim.
“We’re a very sound based band so if we’re going to make the song smaller, it’s got to be different. In our recordings we’ve used sounds from the 60s and 70s, I like the Tarantino vibe on songs such as The George Baker Selections’ ‘Little Green Bag’ – I really like the sound of that.”
