Yule Gotta Be Kidding Me: Los Campesinos!

Every year from about now onward we start to get swamped with seasonal offerings from the sublime to the ridiculous – the allure of the Christmas single seems irresistible to songwriters and record labels, must be all the cheap marketing opportunities or the possibility of guaranteed royalties for life. Anyway, we’ve started a new feature called ‘Yule Gotta Be Kidding Me’ to lump all of the offending tracks into – pretty lame pun, sorry about that (not really that sorry).

First of the year for 2014 is this little number from Los Campesinos! – an unlikely contender, but a fairly strong one that comes replete with all the usual sleigh bells and bobbins that we all love at Christmas.

This new one comes alongside a cover of Mud’s Christmas #1 hit ‘Lonely This Christmas’ as part of very merry new release ‘A Los Campesinos! Christmas’ – released 8th December via Turnstile/Heart Swells, or available to pre-order direct from the band here at 7pm this evening.
