Fresh Chops: Aqualung

Fresh Chops: Aqualung

Matt Hales aka Aqualung has just released a new video for latest single ‘Eggshells’ which features a vocal performance from Lianne La Havas.

His new album, aptly-titled ‘10 Futures’ is the sound of change – ten innovative songs that pursue an adventurous path with no precedent and will be released 19th January through BMG Chrysalis.

After previously announcing he was “done with Aqualung” after the release of his fifth album, 2010’s Magnetic North, a move to California revitalised his love for music and he’s spent the last few years producing and writing for Jason Mraz, Alex Clare, Birdy, Paloma Faith and Rihanna collaborator Mikky Ekko.

Nope, we didn’t know that either.

“Lots of sounds were made from other sounds” says Hales of creating his new material “If you’re trying to shed the singer/songwriter skin, the last thing you want is to be playing piano all the time”.

Looks like Aqualung might not be done after all – this is one of the most successful reinventions we can think of in recent years. Check out the new track here:
