Track of the Day: Shiners – Karma
Do you miss Cast and The La’s and loads of lads in tracksuits being the cool ones and not the ones who are keying your car and throwing Carslberg Export cans in your back garden? Yeah, us too.
Thankfully SHINERS grew up at the height of Britpop with their parents’ New Wave records on repeat. Calling their sound ‘Britwave’ we reckon this lot could well be on to something.
Observational lyrics about the modern world – a world they’re not always thrilled to be living in – mesh perfectly with a retro sound on the first song out of the traps, ‘Karma (Is Coming To Get You)’.
