Track of the Day: Skinny Lister – Cathy

Loud Reed meets Shane MacGowan by way of Dexy’s Midnight Runners on today’s superb track of the day from Skinny Lister.

‘Cathy’ is a rambunctious run through folk punk songwriting history that draws in as many influences as it can get its hands on, spitting them back out in this ear-worm filled gem.

Taken from their upcoming album Down On Deptford Broadway (released in April), the band supported Xtra Mile label-mate Frank Turner on his rammed-out Independent Venue Week gigs last week and will head out with Hot Water Music frontman Chuck Ragan next month, ahead of their own headline tour through April & May.

Speaking about the track singer Dan says; ‘It’s an ode to addiction and recklessness. A declaration of desire for something or someone you know is bad for you. The classic wrestle between head and heart.’
