Fresh Chops: The View

Fresh Chops: The View

Hopefully they haven’t still got The Same Jeans on (bit minty by now) – those Scottish rascals The View have returned with another new track.

A few years older and wiser, new single ‘Marriage’ is taken form their forthcoming album Ropewalk released 8th June and is actually a very accomplished and mature single from a band who seem to have finally grown into their sound.

Always capable of penning a decent tune, it’s nice to hear them step out of the beer-swilling-lad bracket and embrace a sound which actually shares a bit more with California alt rockers Cake.

A funked-up, driving bass line drives this sparse and subtle track to unexpected victory – produced by Albert Hammond Jr & Gus Oberg (The Strokes) and mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend), the track is released on Cooking Vinyl on April 27th 2015.

Says Kyle Falconer of The View “I would say that this record has really taken us out of our comfort zone. It was a huge compliment having Albert & Gus produce the album and we’re really excited with the result. I think it’s our most inventive album yet, we really opened ourselves up to creative possibilities and thankfully the vision paid off. We can’t wait to get out there and play it live…”
