The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Soundtrack Review

mariThomas Newman returns for this sequel and like the first he is full of chimes, gleams, enthral and pizzazz.

Newman has been scoring quite a few of these vibrant little charmers recently (See: the aforementioned first instalment and Saving Mr. Banks) and here he’s happy to ramp it up a notch.

With well over 20 track on the disc (a few song numbers as well from other artists) Newman has an eclectic mix of styles – all keying into the Indian sensibility of the film. But there is urgency in the music which matches the films pace as it leaps from character to character and situation to situation as drama and comedy escalates.

There is much to get excited about in this follow up and it’s key to the success that Newman stuck around for the sequel as he has built on and in many ways improved what he started.
