Brawlers - The Romantic Errors Of Youth
Album Review

Brawlers – The Romantic Errors Of Youth

“Don’t fucking drink unless you mean it” would be one choice lyric from Brawlers record The Romantic Errors Of Our Youth. And, while the sentiment is on point, selecting a genre for the record to be slotted into isn’t so easy. Somewhere between pub rock and punk, Brawlers are oozing with more confidence than other more defined bands. The young upstarts have only just landed with this debut, but they’re making waves and catching them too.

Ten tracks of infectious riffs and explicit lyrics, the best place for this album is a Friday night. The above lyric comes from ‘Don’t Drink And Dial’, a life choice we could all live by, while ‘High Again’ is an eclectic prescribed promise. ‘Windowmisser’ and the final track have the same cheeky grin, but the album itself seems to have the same hypothesis.

They may be young, but Brawlers have opened themselves up and caught their mistakes an missteps. With these, they’ve released a debut album that may not be as punchy as their EP, but all the more memorable. A fine first effort, get ready for a dirty dance followed by a sly wink. Just hope you don’t remember it in the morning.
