Do you miss the glory days of early Motion City Soundtrack? Well luckily for you Leeds has burped up a suitable British answer in the form of Calls Landing.
The Leeds-based four-piece will release their debut album ‘Heirlooms’ on 11th May and you can check out new track ‘Tightrope’ below. Sidestepping any pop punk clichés and avoiding the shoegaze/basement punk trope that’s doing the rounds with the grunge kids, this lot have stripped back their sound to what really matters – cracking songwriting.
Vocalist Joe Armitage comments on the single; “This song tackles anxiety and having a healthy relationship between body and mind. Our good friend Dan, who was our guitarist at the time, and I wrote the lyrics. Both of us were struggling with anxiety issues and writing the song shed light on how we were dealing with them. By personifying the anxiety in the song we were able to highlight the relationship between the good and the bad of the mind. ‘If you’re alright, I’m alright.’”
