Track of the Day: Leisure – Flight

Hack quartet Leisure have just released ‘Flight’ – the lead single from their new 3-track EP ‘Falling’ – produced by Scrimshire, well-known for his thriving indie label Wah Wah 45s (Hackney Colliery Band, the Resonators).

A melancholic yet extremely hooky alt-RnB track, ‘Flight’ combines shades of Banks and Jessie Ware, plus the energy of cult 80s band Loose Ends. Leisure’s killer live sound is well-matched by Scrimshire’s pristine production, supplying an upbeat, bass heavy vibe as singer Beth Horak-Hallett’s soaring vocals weave a path between plucky synths and sparkling guitars.

Check out the music video directed by animator Amy Wolfe, whose playful style uses vibrant colours, glitchy found footage and the dancing minutiae of an aeroplane cabin to tell the story:
