Festival preview: Hellfest 2015

For it’s 10th anniversary edition, Hellfest Openair is preparing to light the usually tranquil Loire Valley in western France ablaze with the sounds of metal. With a wide variety of acts lined up to entertain there is definitely something for everyone with a penchant for loud rocking music.

There will be 6 stages running for 3 days of raucous noise on 19th, 20th and 21st June 2015. The main 2 stages host headliners such as Judas Priest, Motorhead, Scorpions, ZZ Top, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Marylin Manson, Faith No More, Nightwish and Inflames.

The 4 smaller stages (The Alter, The Temple, The Valley and The Warzone) continue to offer an impressive selection of acts including Meshuggah, Obituary, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodum, At the Gates, Cannibal Corpse, Shining, Satyricon, Cradle of Filth, Venom, Mayhem, Finntroll, In Extremo, Tryptikon, Samael, Mastodon, Wovenhand, Trigger finger, Orange Goblin, Superjoint Ritual, Saint Vitus, The Dead Kennedys, Bodycount ft. Ice T, Biohazard, Rise Against, NOFX, The Exploited, Snot and even a splash of pirate metal with Scottish band Alestorm.

There is much more to entertain when you step away from the music with Blizzard bringing the Horde to Hellfest from the realms of Warcraft, The Extreme market and Hell city square and a huge Ferris Wheel lighting up the night.

Overall it looks set to be a wild and energetic weekend with much ale quaffing and foot stomping – see you down the front.

– Bryony Moss
